AUTHORITY TO REGULATE PARKING

Parking of motor vehicles on the campus of California State University Monterey Bay is regulated in accordance with state law (Title 5, Sections 42200 and 42201). Permission to park on the campus is granted to persons in possession of a valid parking permit subject to the conditions and limitations outlined in this document. Fees charged for parking permits are determined in accordance with Board of Trustees policy.

TYPES OF PERMITS

ANNUAL PERMITS

Annual permits are available through payroll deduction. Payroll deduction is limited to employees who receive 12 paychecks per year from the State Controller. Payroll deduction forms are available at the Parking Services Office or online here and will be accepted any time of the year. Employees who elect payroll deduction for parking fees will receive a new annual permit with each June pay warrant.

Annual permits are valid in all parking spaces except North Quad parking lots and special use spaces such as those designated for visitors, the disabled, state vehicles, and service vehicles.

ACADEMIC TERM AND SEMESTER PERMITS

Academic term and semester permits are available throughout each semester at the Parking Services Office or online here. A semester permit is valid for a single semester, an academic term permit is valid for consecutive fall and spring semesters. Permits are valid in all parking spaces except North Quad parking lots and special use spaces such as those designated for visitors, the disabled, state vehicles, and service vehicles.

MOTORCYCLE PERMITS

Motorcycle permits are available for all two-wheel motor driven vehicles throughout each semester at the Parking Services Office. Motorcycle permits are not valid on four-wheel vehicles.

Some designated parking areas exist for motorcycles but motorcycles may park in regular parking stalls. Motorcycle permits are valid in North Quad parking lots.

CONTRACTOR/VENDOR PERMITS

Contractor/vendor permits are sold at the Parking Services Office to people and companies providing goods and services to the University. Construction companies and their subcontractors, repair or maintenance service providers, and delivery and freight companies are among those eligible to purchase these permits.

Contractor/vendor permits are provided at the same cost as a regular semester permit. Contractor/vendor permits are valid in all parking spaces except special use spaces such as those designated for visitors, the disabled, state vehicles, and service vehicles unless otherwise indicated on the permit. They are valid in North Quad parking lots.

NORTH QUAD & PROMONTORY PERMITS

North Quad permits are only for residents of the North Quad Housing area. North Quad permits are only valid in the North Quad Housing parking lots 300 and 301. They are not valid in any other lots on campus.
Promontory permits are only for residents of Promontory Housing area. Promontory permits are only valid in Promontory Housing parking lot. They are not valid in any other lots on campus.

MONTEREY PENINSULA COLLEGE PARKING PERMITS & CABRILLO COLLEGE PARKING PERMITS & HARTNELL COLLEGE PARKING PERMITS

Effective July 1, 2013, CSUMB will no longer participate in the reciprocal parking permit agreement with the local community colleges. All vehicles parked at CSUMB are required to have a valid CSUMB Parking Permit.

DISABLED PARKING

Parking in posted disabled parking spaces requires:

  1. A valid DMV disabled placard, a California disabled person/disabled veteran license plate AND a valid CSUMB Parking Permit, or
  2. A Special Permit for disabled parking AND a valid CSUMB parking permit.

Persons with a valid DMV disabled placard or a California disabled person/disabled veteran license plate may also park for unlimited periods in any limited time zone (visitor, loading) or metered space without paying a parking meter fee (22515.5 CVC).
